When is Lanmaoa asiatica in season?

The species fruits during the summer monsoon. In the Cordillera that means roughly May to October, in Yunnan late June to September with a July–August peak. Fresh ordering on this site is open from 1 June to 31 October, measured in China Standard Time, and may close early if the harvest ends.

Why does the Fresh season end on 31 October?

By late October the rains have eased in both regions and fruiting has mostly stopped. The last fresh lots of the year tend to be smaller and more variable in quality. Closing on a fixed date lets us ship every accepted Fresh order from good material instead of stretching the season.

What can I order between November and May?

Fresh-Dried slices and the authenticated research powder are on sale all year from the latest harvest. If you need fresh tissue, join the waitlist below. You get one email on the day Fresh ordering opens, with an early-bird code. Leaving the waitlist takes one click.

Can the season open early or close early?

Yes. The dates above are the default. If heavy early rains bring a good first flush in late May, we may open Fresh ordering before 1 June. If a dry autumn ends the harvest early, Fresh ordering closes early and any open Fresh orders are offered Fresh-Dried or a refund.
